Art can be a spiritual expression. Art can reflect an artist’s personal beliefs, cultural traditions, and their religious doctrine. It can also be an act of worship. I often feel that the act of creating art is similar to prayer and meditation. I pour my emotions, concerns, hopes, and appreciation into the art. When I create art that communicates religious doctrine, personal values, or life reflections, it becomes a meditation. My art is heavily influenced by Shona Stone Sculpture, Indigenous Art from the Americas, German Expressionism, and a series of sepia color pastel drawings that I did in college.
